How to get to Taichung from Taoyuan Airport + Accommodation (Taichung Part 2)
Monday, October 30, 2017
When it comes to traveling, the first thing that always hits me is the excitement when heading to the airport; getting onto the plane; reaching the destination, and finally settling down at our accommodation! So here's a short 30sec+ video that I did up just to express that excitement! Who else feels the same way too? :)

How to get to Taichung from Taoyuan Airport
To make your itinerary planning easier for you, I'll be breaking down the key information for the 3 transportation services into summary charts. And just in case your brain gets overload halfway through, you can also refer to the summary table at the end! :)
OPTION 1: HIGHWAY BUS
There are 3 bus companies that can take you to Taichung but do take note that they have different bus routes, operating hours, bus frequency, fare and timetable schedule. The bus station can be located at Taoyuan Airport Arrival Hall Terminal 1 Basement 1 or Terminal 2 Level 1.
There are 2 kinds of bus tickets:
- Full Price Ticket 全票 (for passengers who are at or above the age of 12)
- Half Price Ticket 半票 (for children less than 12 years of age, seniors who are at or above the age of 65, passengers with mental or physical disabilities)
Information extracted and summarized from
Taoyuan Airport Website & Taiwan UBus Website (as of Oct 2017)
If you're planning to stay near Fengjia Night Market, most travelers would alight at Chaoma Station (朝馬站) and transfer to another bus or taxi to reach your hotel or minsu (民宿). I would recommend taking the taxi instead from Chaoma Station which only takes about 15min to the Fengjia vicinity (or longer depending on the traffic and where your accommodation is). In my opinion, this route is the most budget-friendly and convenient option!
* My Recommended Route *
⇢ Board highway bus from Taoyuan Airport
⇢ Alight at Chaoma Station (朝馬站)
⇢ Then take a taxi to go straight to your accommodation

OPTION 2: TAIWAN HIGH SPEED RAIL
The fastest way to get to Taichung is definitely via the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR). However, when factoring in the higher costs, transit/wait time and transfer situation (which might not be very convenient especially when carrying big luggages around), I personally feel that the highway bus is still the better option! Nonetheless, for travelers who need to reach Taichung fast due to time constraint, I've summarised all the necessary information that you need to know below!

OPTION 3: TAXI
If you're solely looking for convenience and budget is not an issue at all, then of course taking the taxi is the best choice for you! Depending on the traffic, the traveling time might take slightly less than 2 hours. Based on this website Taxi Fare Calculator in Taichung, the estimated taxi fare is around NT$3578 (omg that's SGD$160)!

SUMMARY
In a nutshell, here's a summary table that I came up with to wrap up this section on transportation to Taichung! Hope that all the information provided will help you in your itinerary planning! :)

Taichung Accommodation
We stayed at Happy Times Minsu which is situated very near Fengjia Night Market. It's a budget minsu so literally, you get what you pay for - small and "cozy" with only the basic necessities (note that the only area we could sit was on the bed haha). But then again, we don't spend a lot of time in the room so it's still alright! But if you're looking for comfort, you may want to look elsewhere. Here are some accommodation links that I've found for you!
