Located at the west-central of Taiwan, Taichung is ranked as the second most populous city with many interesting places to explore. In this post, I'm excited to share with you 4 places that I feel are worth visiting on your next trip to Taichung! To bring you closer to the places that I've set foot on, I've done up approximately 30-40sec visuals to enhance your experience!
Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林
Located on a remote mountain in Taichung City, Lavender Cottage was built by two young women who decided to quit their jobs to pursue their dream of a hillside coffee shop surrounded by purple lavender farm. Surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys, you could send a postcard to someone special; head to the mountain top to make a wish; have some icecream at the coffee shop; or do some shopping at the market selling lavender products (such as soap, bath powder, teabags)! Simply put, there's just so much you can explore which is why the Lavender Cottage is my absolute favourite place for a cozy and relaxing afternoon!
Zhong She Flower Market 中社花市
Spacious fields planted with a wide array of brilliant colorful flowers, Zhongshe Flower Market is a beautiful place to immerse yourself in the sea of flower fields against the blue sky. The full blooms are definitely worth a visit for that perfect Instagram shot!
Rainbow Village 彩虹眷村
Rainbow Village is a popular tourist attraction famous for the vivid colors and illustrations that were hand-painted by Rainbow Grandpa in an attempt to save the village from being pulled down by the government. (Fun fact: Rainbow Village was previously an old military dependents village build for nationalist soldiers) Certainly worth visiting for the story behind these colorful artwork and you could even bump into the rainbow soldier busking in the village!
Mushroom Hotpot (菇神)
Address: No. 287, Xiezhong St., Xinshe District, Taichung City 426, Taiwan
If you ask me what's the best meal that I had in Taiwan, it would hands down be this Mushroom Hotpot from Master of Mushroom Restaurant! The set came with a generous mixture of fresh mushroom, vegetables, sliced meat, tofu, steamed rice etc, and the highlight is of course the delicious mushroom soup which tasted heavenly! 5 stars, highly highly recommended! A must-visit when you're in Taichung!
